Lemont’s cheerleading and dance teams both take first place at their competitions on Sunday, Nov. 20.

The cheerleading competition was located at Wilmington High School and the girls competed in the medium division. The cheer team consists of 15 girls and one boy. They took first out of four others teams. Morgan Pukula said,  “This was our first time competing in this competition so we didn’t know what to really expect. We went in with an open mind and even though we got some deductions we pulled it together and will improve for competitions to come.”

The dance team also took first at their Oak Forest invitational. The team consists of 20 girls and placed first out of 13 teams in the 2A category. One of three captains, Melissa Moravek, said, “The team worked hard these last two weeks to make the dance clean and to really convey emotion into our dance. We are proud of our win and will continue to strive for more.”
