This fall, the Drama Department performed “Crazytown” on Nov. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. in the PAC. The play was an hour long and was full of laughs for families to enjoy.

It was set in the imaginary world of Crazytown where things weren’t quite normal. The whole show was set up as a newscast where the two studio broadcasters, played by Audrey Schlueter and Joseph Storti, sent the audience to different segments and even incorporated commercial breaks. There was a segment in an interrogation room, an elementary school election, and as part of a bizarre sports news segment.

All of the segments demonstrated ways in how unusual and amusing Crazytown is. In the interrogation room, Sheldon Grimes – played by Zachary McFarland – was interrogated by investigators Detective Kimball (Mike Lipowski) and Detective Mills (Madeline Amberg) for being the nicest guy in Crazytown; that’s when they called in Ricky – played by Ben Dirst – to whip him into shape.

The sports segment was just as bizarre, for the two broadcasters commentated on two men watching sports. The two newscasters, Merve Johnson (Ben Dirst) and Tim Bixby (Nathaniel Blanco), commented on players Donald Baxter and Michael Felton – played by Michael Lipowski and Zachary Rosenblum – as they themselves watched sports and even had action replays of the moves that the players made to beat each other in watching sports.

The play integrated modern jokes and even mentioned the iconic World Series win to make it fresh and relatable. Rachel Dzimira, up and coming freshman, said, “The fall play was so funny and light hearted. It made me want to get involved in the plays when I start attending Lemont.”

In all, the fall play was a quality way to spend an hour of the weekend with family or friends. The drama students worked long and hard to bring the play to life and couldn’t have been done without Drama Director Stephanie Cesaroni, Assistant Director Paula Smith, Technical Director Matthew Davis, and the tech team.
