Super Bowl LI (51) was held on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. This year, the two best teams that went up against each other were the New England Patriots (17-2) and Atlanta Falcons (13-6).

The game started off with three cast members from Hamilton singing ‘America The Beautiful.’ After their performance, Luke Bryan sang the ‘National Anthem.’ While he sang, The Thunderbirds (from the Air Force) flew their planes and showcased their talents. After that, former president George H.W. Bush and his wife were brought onto the field for the coin toss. Falcons fan Sebastian Mikos said, “I hope the Falcons win” before the game since the Patriots won 2 years ago.

The first quarter started off with an open drive for the Patriots, but they didn’t even get one down. Then, the ball was passed to the Falcons whose first down was 37 yards. Not much happened during this quarter except for the quarterbacks being sacked a couple times. In the second quarter, though, the Falcons scored three touchdowns. The first touchdown was by Devonta Freeman (#24), the second was by Austin Hooper (#81), and the third was by Robert Alford (#23).

After the second quarter, it was time for Lady Gaga’s halftime show. She started her performance off from the roof and then jumped down from it. The stadium roof is always closed, but they opened it only for the performance. While Lady Gaga was propelling down, a mashup of her songs played. Then, once she was in position to start singing, she began with “Poker Face,” which is one of her most famous songs. Then, she went on to sing “Born This Way,” “Telephone,” “Just Dance,” “Million Reasons” (which she performed while playing the piano), and “Bad Romance.” While performing, she had one outfit change towards the end. Also, one of her dancers fell, which many didn’t notice, but it was recognized all over social media.

The third quarter then started when the Patriots finally got their first touchdown by James White (#28). After the first touchdown, they scored two more touchdowns. This play caused the game to be tied and led to the first-ever overtime during the Super Bowl. After both teams tried their best, the Patriots scored the final touchdown, leading to their victory.
