New craze causes addiction

This fall, Apple launched a new IOS 10 update which added new features to the company’s messaging app. Users can now send gifs, music, play games with friends, and access the app store to download apps specifically for the iMessage application.

One app, GamePigeon, allows users to play a variety of games: 8-Ball, Sea Battle, Anagrams, Knockout, Tanks, Checkers, Poker, Four in a Row, Word Hunt, Dots & Boxes, Gomoku, 20 Questions, and 9-Ball.

Seniors Maddie LeBeck and Kiara Hardy agree that their favorite game is Anagrams. Other seniors Kyla Owens, Julia Orozco, and Suha Asadullah said that their favorite is 8-Ball.

Each senior said that they had friends who play the games with them. When the app first came out, there was a lot of hype among players. Lebeck said, “I used it for two weeks and now it’s dying down.”

Owens, however, said she doesn’t play it often. Owens, Asadullah, and LeBeck said that they were addicted to playing GamePigeon; Hardy and Orozco said they were not.

Overall, each student would recommend the app to others and enjoys playing the games that the app provided.
