Hard work will always pay off

Marty Kaminski, 15, is a sophomore at Lemont High School. He has very strong goals for the end of high school and wants to work as hard as he can for them.

As his sophomore year has started, academics have been very strong. While keeping academics in his head, football has also been a big part of his life.

“My goals for the end of high school is to get into an exceptional college, have a 3.6 GPA, and to have had a great experience in high school. As it is important to keep your grades up it is also important to have fun and live your life and hang out with your friends.“

No matter how much you want something, you have to work at it.

“I keep myself working hard by thinking of the benefits of what I do. When you weigh the pros and cons of something I also ensure that I have more pros than cons. I also have a passion and a reason for everything I do, that way you are doing something that you enjoy and always have something to look back on.”

Marty joined the football team his freshman year. He had played as a kid, but he wanted to play again because it is something he really enjoys. He continues to learn many lessons from being on the team.

“My favorite part of being on the team is playing with the team and hanging out with everyone on it. We have a really great comradery and all really click together, work together, and are disciplined which is what gives us our 7-1 record.”

No matter how much he loves football, he still has other goals he wants to work at.

“I want to really work hard meeting my biggest goals in my life. Among the two are getting my Private Pilot’s license and getting a Doctorate in a subject matter. But, just as fun and inspirational as it is to look to the future, you need to focus on the present and for now my primary concerns are being a good student and a great athlete on the field.”

The reason for his intelligence is because of the important lessons he takes from his classes.

“The classes that are most influential are Business law and AP World. Business Law  teaches the students to reason with the facts. That is one of the most important things, that you think of every decision before you make it with the facts that are on hand. AP World history tends to repeat itself and it is important to look to the past to learn about things happening in the present or what may happen in the future.”
