Being a suburban mother in Lemont

Jymi Pukula has two teenagers: sophomore and senior, who are both involved in sports. She enjoys being a ‘sports parent’ because of the history that is behind it, since her husband is an alumni who was involved in two sports here.

She loves seeing her son and daughter interact with their friends and become individuals throughout their four years at Lemont. Living in this town has showed Jymi how close and supportive the community is. She said, “Lemont is one big family.”

Jymi wants her kids to live a life that they are happy with and never want them to settle for something less than they deserve.

“I wish most that you and your brother be happy, healthy and love what you do for the rest of your lives. Do not have a job just to have a job no matter how much money it makes. Enjoy it,” she said.
