Interviewing a ‘techie’

October 26, 2016

I interviewed Baillie Costigan and asked for her opinion on her position in theatre tech.

Q: “So, please explain what truly interested you in the world of theatre technology?”

A: “I went to the eighth grade open house and Gabbi Wilk convinced me to join. She told me that tech is like one big family.”

Q: “Was she right; is tech like a giant happy family?”

A: “I mean, it is like a family. There are good parts of the family and bad parts. There are happy days and sometimes unhappy days.”

Q: “So, have your fellow ‘techies’ changed you at all? Have they made you more extroverted and open?”

A: “Yes and no. When it comes to the people I’ve met and grown close to, I am more open. However, when I meet new people, I’m still shy and introverted.”

Q: “Do you believe people who are coming into the school should take a look at this class?”

A: “Oh yeah, without a doubt. If you’re interested in theatre, you should look into this class. But don’t believe it’s a blow off, and if so, don’t join.”
