Meet Gerda Simkeviciute, a senior who has been described as truly beautiful, inside and out. Not only is she an exceptionally driven student in school and part of many clubs, but she also volunteers at Palos Community Hospital every Wednesday.

As the deadlines for college applications approach, Gerda is making her decisions. She said, “Yes, I have visited quite a few colleges which include North Central, Benedictine, and IIT.”

College applications can be very stressful when you are unsure of what you want to do. For Gerda, this was a no-brainer. She said, “I want to go into the medical field because I enjoy helping others.”

Not only is she bettering the lives of others, but she has quite the story behind her. Moving to America from Lithuania in sixth grade was a huge change.

But, her transition has been an excellent one. Straight A student, National Honor Society member, leader, and dedicator of her time to those in need. If you are ever in need of a tutor, track coach, or overall amazing friend, Gerda is your girl!
