The Modern Fiction class is holding a book tournament that will be posted outside the athletic wing next week, stemming from the idea of March Madness, a popular basketball tournament in the NBA.

The class will be going straight to the sweet 16 bracket which is when there are only 16 teams left in the march madness tournament. The books included are:

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

The Curious incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon

Monster by Walter Dean Myers

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

Matched by Ally Condie

The Absolutely True Story of the Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

Winger by Andrew A. Smith

The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud

The Crossover by Kwame Alexander

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Abundance of Katherines by John Green

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Pet Sematary by Stephen King

Once members of the class read their assigned books, they will discuss which titles will be moving on to the elite 8 and the process will continue until the top two. The final book will win.

The books are bracketed in genres such as science fiction, horror, fantasy, and historical fiction.

If you’re looking for a book to read, stop by and check out the brackets to follow along with the modern fiction class as books battle it out.
