Radiomen rock Riley’s Roadhouse

On Saturday, Jan. 23, the local band, The Radiomen, took the stage at Reilly’s Roadhouse in Romeoville, for “the baddest rock show in the burbs”. Bassist DJ Buschauer, drummer Steve Santucci, and singer and lead guitarist Ryan Fitzgerald were all hyped up and ready to rock.

The band practiced profusely, getting ready for their show. Normally, they practice all weekend, but when they have a show coming up, they crack down and start practicing during the week as well.

One thing the band didn’t plan on was wardrobe; a last minute idea led to wearing a suit on stage.

Buschauer says, “Personally, going on stage, I didn’t feel I looked good trying to rock with a suit on.” Obviously, he isn’t too familiar with The Beatles.

Along with last minute ideas, drama started when two bands quit the gig. The Radiomen had no idea the spotlight for them would begin an hour earlier than planned.

Buschauer expressed that his band had to quickly call and inform the expected attendees they had to be there earlier. Regardless of the timing complication, they still managed to bring out 61 people to exclusively watch their show.

When asked what was Buschauer’s favorite part about the whole show, he heartedly said, “Looking out into the crowed and having all my friends cheering me on, having a good time, dancing and just enjoying the concert.”

Come rock out at their next concert, taking place at The Tree Joliet on Feb. 28 at 6:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold by the band members during and after school for $9, or $12 if you buy at the door. They will also be selling T-shirts for $20 and signed posters for $5. See you there!
