After dropping her newest song, “Green Light,” fans have been storming social media with pleas for more music from their long lost Lorde and savior. Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, also known as Lorde, is a twenty-year-old singer from New Zealand that stormed the radio with her hit single “Royals” back in 2013. Later that year, she released her first full album, “Pure Heroine,” which was a chart-topper, reaching third on the US Billboard Top 200.

Throughout all of 2014, Lorde performed at several well-known music festivals, such as Lollapalooza in Chicago, and collaborated with the “Hunger Games” franchise, creating the song “Yellow Flicker Beat” for the movie “Mockingjay- Part 1.” She was incredibly successful and created a huge fanbase for being such a young and rather new artist.

But, that was it.

For the next two years, Lorde was practically unheard from in the music community. Sporadically, she appeared as a featured artist on a few minor tracks, but never released any new, solo music and barely dropped any details for another album.

However, just recently in early March, her debut single “Green Light” was released on all platforms. The single has already reached number six on the iTunes store and now still sits in the iTunes top 100. The music video, released on LordeVevo March 2, already has over 30 million views, as of March 20.

The new song is accompanied by a fun music video with Lorde dancing through the streets and singing this highly anticipated single. The song still has that signature ‘Lorde’ sound with electric vibes with the emphasis placed on her rich vocals. The only difference: her famously long and curly hair is now short, but still is just as stylish.

Lorde can also be seen later this year at a few very popular music festivals, such as Coachella and Bonnaroo, rocking her hits of the past and hopefully, also the ones of the future.

Whether it be a publicity stunt or due to a genuine need for more time to create this album, the long wait between full CDs has made fans crazy and incredibly excited for her second album, “Melodrama,” which is rumored to be released this summer. Because “Pure Heroine” was so successful, this new album has some pretty big shoes to fill.
