Preparing to take on some rigorous games, the Lemont baseball team has a long road coming during their spring season. Practicing almost everyday to prepare for what’s to come, the team is more determined than ever to play their best and win their conference.

Just recently going to Florida to play teams from all around the state, Lemont faced 6 different teams: St. Thomas Aguinas, Miami Christian, Stoneman Douglas, Fairview, Charlotte Christian, and Ponte Vedra. Playing in a whole new environment with competitive teams, varsity along with JV had to work their way through some tough games with a 3-3 record.

They had 3 victories against St. Thomas Aguinas with a score of 5-2, Stoneman Douglas with a score of 6-4, and Ponte Vedra with a score of 13-11. They also has 3 losses against Mami Christian with a score of 1-6, Fairview with a score of 11-10, and Charlotte Christian with a score of 5-2.

Senior varsity baseball player Easton Tally said, “It was great to get out of cold weather and play some great competition. From facing Miami Christian and that donkey they threw against us to just playing spikeball on the beach, I think we grew as a team.”

After having a great trip to start off their unofficial season in Florida, the team came back more prepared than ever for what was to come in their IHSA conference at home. Although they have yet to host their first home game due to weather complications, the team still works and stays on top of the ball everyday.
