Instead of taking a trip to Mexico, a taste of Mexican style food is not that far away! Mago Grill and Cantina, located in the Bolingbrook Mall, the Promenade, is raved throughout the area for being the “hot spot” ( quite literally) for delicious and spicy mexican meals.

As you walk in, you are instantly greeted by the fun, festive environment, extraordinary smells, and kind staff. I was seated right away at a small table in the corner of the restaurant. I quickly realized that the tables were extremely close together, and that it was going to be difficult to enjoy my meal by being so close to another party.

Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the dips that were offered to my family and I with the chips; I couldn’t stop eating them!

I started off my meal by ordering the guacamole, which was brought out to be made right in front of us. The guacamole was heavenly and fresh, so I was getting excited about trying my main dish, the chicken fajitas. I only waited for 35 to 40 minutes, and when they got to my table, they looked delightful.

The sizzling platter had caramelized spanish onions, tomatoes, and green and red peppers. The fajitas absolutely lived up to their outward appearance, as they were very flavorful and had just the right amount of spice.

Throughout the entire meal, my waiter was always checking if we needed anything else, and if we did, he always efficiently came back with what we asked for.

I was looking for something to cool down my tastebuds, so I ordered the passionfruit smoothie. I ordered the smoothie because I was recommended by a friend that it was a superb drink. Friends don’t lie, and I will be definitely making the passionfruit smoothie a regular part of my meal every time I visit.

The food at Mago Grill and Cantina was all that my family and I talked about on our car ride home. However, the prices were not as praised as the food. Even with cutting out any soft drinks with our meal, our bill was extremely high. Although the restaurant was definitely a repeat, we now know that we will be only visiting on special occasions.
