New elective introduced to students
February 25, 2020
Next school year, the new elective Truth and Lies: Civilization and Savagery in British Literature will be introduced to all interested students.
“The class is going to be based on British literature,” said Sara Armbrecht, the teacher of the class.
The class is only a semester long, but will cover topics including short stories, poems, and novels. Students who take the class will get a chance to improve their critical reading, writing, and literary analysis skills.
“It’s going to be older stuff and newer stuff about deception,” Armbrecht said.
Some of the literature taught will be historic while other poems and short stories will be more modern. However, all the literature read in the class will share a common theme: truth or lies.
Truth and Lies will be available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. “It’s a mix – probably more sophomores,” Armbrecht said.
There is currently no class to take in conjunction to Truth and Lies after the one semester is up. However, Armbrecht is hopeful and said, “Who knows what will happen in the future?”
