Taylor Swift announces new album ‘Midnights’ at midnight after 2022 VMAs
September 2, 2022
At the annual MTV video music awards, Taylor Swift announced that she would be releasing a new album. However, Swift waited until midnight to announce any details about the upcoming album.
Swift’s new album “Midnights” is set to be released Oct. 21, with 13 tracks and two separate sides. Each song is from a different night of Swift’s life and is meant to celebrate the sleepless nights that allowed for the beginning of these songs.
This announcement shocked most “swifties” (Taylor Swift fans) since Swift is currently re-recording her old albums. Swift seemed to have her hands tied so fans did not expect TS10 to come so soon. Unlike the re-records, “Midnights” will consist of entirely new content. Swift has not released an entirely new album since “Folklore” and “Evermore”, two sister albums that both came out in 2020. “Folklore” and “Evermore” were both released completely as a surprise, while “Midnights” was kept under wraps until now, but will not be a complete surprise.
It is currently unclear what genre “Midnights” will be a part of. Swift stated the 13 songs are all from different points of her life and since Swift has produced country, pop and folk albums, it leaves fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation of what type of songs can be expected.
Make sure to pay attention to your preferred music platform on Oct. 21 if you are interested in Swift’s new album, “Midnights.”
