The week before Homecoming is the most anticipated week for students. Skits, dress up days, assemblies and most importantly spirit points make up the beloved week.

Spirit points can be obtained in multiple ways including dressing up, donating money or hygiene items, skits and much more.

The easiest way to earn points is by dressing up each day. The student council voted on three dress up days for all classes to participate in. Monday was country vs country club day, Tuesday was themed cartoon day and Wednesday students dressed up as different fashion eras for decade day. On Thursday the theme was the traditional and fan favorite class color day. Finally to end the week was the well-known blue and gold day.

The sophomores passed every other class by earning a total of 1,492 points from only dressing up. The seniors earned second for the amount of students dressed up and got 1,442 points. The freshman had 1,261 points and got third place . And the smallest class in the school, the juniors came in last with 1,096 dress up points.

Another way students could earn points is through skits. The seniors had three first place skits and the juniors won two first place skits. The seniors had 12 of their skits place and the freshman only had two skits place in the top five.

Spirit week also includes class color day games that were able to win points from each game. There was no surprise that the freshman did the worst in the games and came in third to win 25 points. For the second year in a row the sophomores and juniors tied for second place with 90 points. The seniors dominated the games to get first place with 110 points.

English teacher Kathryn Kupchek said, “It’s basically tradition we’ve had for the food drive and the NHS movie night. Sometimes it just gets so skewed, if we were to count individually the totals would be so astronomical in certain years.”

Each class created a homecoming banner for the upcoming football game. Shockingly the senior banner came in fourth with 10 points. The junior banner came in third with 20 points. The  freshmen debuted their banner making skills and came in second with 35 points. And lastly the sophomore banner pulled through and came in first with 50 points.

This year, instead of selling spirit links, they were replaced by a new fundraiser called Cal’s Angels. The freshman had only raised $120, the sophomores donated $173 and the juniors contributed $291. The seniors passed each grade by giving a total of $686.

Overall in fourth place are the freshmen with 1,478 points. In third place are the juniors with 1,673 points. The sophomores with 1,976 points came in second place. And finally the winners are the seniors with 2,185 points.
