Dunkin’s Valentine’s collection is a partial success

Dunkin’s heart shaped donuts are a bite full of love.

Every year during the month of February, Dunkin releases their limited edition Valentine’s Day collection. This year, the collection consisted of two donuts and two iced-drinks that follow the Valentine’s theme. These were the Brownie Batter Donut, Cupid’s Choice Donut, Cocoa Mocha Iced Signature Latte and the Pink Strawberry Coconut Refresher.

The Brownie Batter Donut, heart shaped and full of love, was a strong success. The chocolate flavor was both rich and delicious and designed to please any chocolate lover.

The Cupid’s Choice Donut, a strawberry frosted and cream filled delight, was simple but appetizing. The classic combination of strawberries and cream was surprisingly flavorful and easy to enjoy.

However, although the donuts were lovable, the drinks were a bit of a flop.

The Cocoa Mocha Iced Signature Latte tasted like any other drink. In fact, it did not seem to reflect the holiday atmosphere at all. It was a class mocha latte that had no connection to Valentine’s Day.

Similarly, the Pink Strawberry Coconut Refresher was also disappointing. Despite the fact that the colors and appearance were perfectly on brand for the season, the flavor did not meet my expectations. It was almost as if they poured a glass of coconut syrup over ice and called it a “refresher” which was very unpleasant.

It is safe to say that Dunkin has mastered one thing: their donuts. However the drinks could use some improvement. Next Valentine’s Day, I will be sure to stick to the donuts and avoid the drinks.
