People all over the world have been looking at what Taylor Swift has done this year. From her Eras Tour to two album re-releases, Swift has taken over the music industry.
This year, Swift’s Eras Tour has sold out stadiums and is projected to make $5.7 billion. The magnitude of the Swifties’ adoration was reflected during a concert in Seattle that “caused a small earthquake”.“Thousands of dancing fans set off a nearby seismometer, registering the equivalent of a magnitude 2.3 quake,” Lisa Richwine from reuters.com said.
Swift released a film of the concert, available in theaters starting Oct 3., “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” has already grossed a total of $249.6 million, making it the highest grossing concert film of all time.
Outside of Swift’s tour and concert film, she was also announced as Time Magazine Person of the Year and ranked as Spotify’s Global Artist of the Year. Swift’s music received over 26 billion streams and became the first female artist to have four albums on Billboard’s top 10 list simultaneously.
During the Billboard Music Awards 2023 on Nov. 19, Swift won 10 awards and was nominated in 20 categories. At the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, she won a total of nine awards, becoming the second-most awarded artist following Beyonce.
Swift re-released two of her albums this year, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”. Both albums were announced during her Eras Tour and received ecstatic responses from fans.
When “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” was released, it received 126.3 million streams on Spotify and broke the record for the most single-day streams for a country album in history. Similarly, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” also passed the most single-day streams for an artist, breaking her previous record she had set with her album “Midnights” in 2022.
Swift has received lots of praise for her work and plans on continuing to release music.
