2024 Homecoming dress trends

Between classes and fall activities, dress shopping can be stressful for high schoolers.

The weather is cooling, the leaves are falling and football occupies the television. It’s autumn once more, and with this, homecoming draws near. Whether you’re following Lemont’s “Nashville Nights” theme for Homecoming 2024 or not, let’s look at some predicted trends for this year’s Homecoming dresses.

Strapless Dresses

Homecoming dress designers, such as Sherri Hill and Jovani, have unveiled their 2024 Homecoming Dress collections and many dresses feature a strapless silhouette. These timeless dresses are great to show off your shoulders and a necklace. Pair your dress with an updo to feature this gorgeous neckline!

Corset Tops

The past few years have seen an increase in corset-like tops for both Homecoming and Prom, and the trend is not slowing down anytime soon. This trend is perfect for many people – from bodycon to flowy, sparkly to satin, there’s a style for everyone! Multiple stores, such as Windsor and Lucy in the Sky, feature a plethora of styles sure to fit your look!

Jewel Tones

New homecoming additions this year have seen an uptick in jewel colors such as emerald, red and magenta. These colors are perfectly suited for the fall and are sure to make any girl stand out! Sherri Hill in particular has unveiled plenty of new styles in these rich hues. Accent with gold or silver to sparkle during Homecoming!

Pastels

Baby pink, lilac, light yellow and sage green, oh my! Pastels have been all the rage for both Homecoming and Prom as of late. These calming colors are perfect for those with a more neutral aesthetic and look great on anyone. Pastels can be found for any budget, whether you are spending $20 or $200. Pair these dresses with light or nude heels to keep you and your dress the center of attention!

Sophia Bushnell is a senior and second-year member on the Tom-Tom staff. Her friends and family would describe her as artistic, intelligent and critical. When not falling asleep in her AP classes, Sophia can be found listening to music, getting a sweet treat or re-watching her favorite childhood movies. Very involved in LHS activities, she is the NHS Empathy co-chair, Senior Class representative and a World Language Club board member. Looking forward, Sophia aspires to attend a top university and pursue a career in psychiatry.

Addyson Connolly, Co-Editor-in-Chief

Addyson Connolly is a senior at LHS and this is her fourth and final year being a part of the Tom-Tom staff. When she does not have school, Addyson can often be found hanging out with her friends, her family or at work. Addyson has two sisters that have graduated from LHS and also has a dog named Tahoe. Addyson especially loves fall and Halloween, but she also loves winter because of the holidays and skiing. Addyson had a spectacular junior year and is looking forward to the rest of her senior year, especially with working on the Tom-Tom again.
