Between bombshells and breakups, reality show “Love Island USA” grabbed America’s attention in a way never done before. “Love Island USA” reached the No. 1 streaming series status in America from July 5-11 with 919.1 million minutes watched, according to Variety. Exclusively on Peacock, Season 6 included a new host, Ariana Madix, known for her role in reality show “Vanderpump Rules.”
There was overwhelming support and excitement for the season’s cast between TikTok edits, clipped quotes and fan accounts. Fans fell in love with the whirlwind romance of cast members Leah Kateb and Robert Rausch, along with other friendships made within the villa. Kateb and Rausch’s immediate connection fascinated viewers, including myself. Kateb, Iranian American islander, became nicknamed the “People’s Princess” through her funny and relatable quotes and has grown a large following, currently with 3.6 million followers on Instagram and 4 million followers on TikTok. Kateb is starting to pursue a more serious career with social media following the season, having recently signed with a management team.
This season’s popularity is also due to the drama and arguments between cast members in the villa, making this season very entertaining for fans. The most notable scandals would be the Rausch and Kateb romance and fallout following the elimination of Andrea Carmona, members Aaron Evans and Kaylor Martin’s cheating scandal as well as Kordell Beckham and Serena Page’s cheating scandal. In my opinion, the most notable episodes are episodes 12, 13, 19, 22 and 24. These episodes are dramatic, emotional and relatable to a certain extent.
In the end, Beckham, brother to famous football player Odell Beckham Jr., and Page won this season, receiving the $100,000 prize. Through their raw emotion and authenticity in their relationship throughout the entire season, they gained support from the fans. Since the season has wrapped, Beckham and Page have moved in together and continue to entertain fans through social media. Beckham has also announced his collaboration with Cheez-It, which he expressed as one of his life goals inside the villa.
Due to the success of this season, producers decided to hold a reunion a month following the season’s finale. This reunion unveiled dramatic unseen footage from the villa, breakups and announcements of official couples Kateb with Miguel Harichi and JaNa Craig with Kenny Rodriguez. The reunion left viewers wanting more and questioning if next season will be able to compare.
