Sept. 15 the Chicago Bears lost to the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football on NBC 19-13.
Despite the loss, the Bears would hold the Texans offense to one touchdown, the Texans special team seemed unstoppable as kicker Ka’imi Fairburn would kick four field goals to keep extending the Texans lead.
The Bears defense would continue to hold the Texans from scoring late in the fourth quarter as defensive lineman, Andrew Billings, forced a fumble on the Bears third yard line, which was recovered by defensive back, Kevin Byard III.
The Bears defense was able to set up the offense with multiple opportunities. The Bears offense wouldn’t prevail as the offensive line struggled giving up seven sacks, which led Bears rookie quarterback, Caleb Williams, to get hit 11 times, and pressured a total of 36 times.
Williams threw for 174 yards, zero touchdowns, two interceptions and had a 62% completion rate. After the loss, Williams was asked about his performance in an interview with Larry Mayer.
“We didn’t execute the way we needed to,” Williams said. “We’re going to keep getting better. Everything is about the response. It’s week two. I’m a young guy, but I understand it’s a long season. I understand that it’s Week two, understanding that we’re going to respond and get better every day.”
Going on to the third week, the Bears are on the road and will attempt to bounce back and avoid going on a two game losing streak against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts are led by QB Anthony Richardson and running back Johnathan Taylor. The Colts are coming off a two game losing streak to which they lost to the Texans and the Packers.
