After one of the busiest school weeks all year, students celebrated Homecoming together on Sept. 28 in the fieldhouse with nothing but fun activities to participate in.
At the entrance to the dance there were countless opportunities for photos with rodeo-themed picture cutouts, fairy lights and photo booths at every turn. As you make your way through the gym, students were greeted with a colorful DJ setup along with a huge banner displaying the Homecoming theme, “Nashville Nights.”
The dance was supposed to be held on the football field after feedback from the previous year, but due to the humidity and rain it was moved back inside. This decision upset many students as they were looking forward to celebrating on the turf, but attendees made the best of the night regardless of the location.
“I enjoyed the dance because it was nice to see that a lot of the underclassmen ended up going, having a good time and carrying on the tradition of LHS Homecoming. [Student Council] was worried it might be a flop, but it turned out really well,” Student Council president Amy Swenson said.
One of the best things about the dance was the DJ’s setlist. Everyone’s favorite song seemed to be “Fe!n” by Travis Scott. Once the first beat of “Fe!n” started everyone knew what it was right away and started cheering in joy. “Fe!n” has been going viral recently from a popular TikTok trend, so students were thrilled to hear it being played at Homecoming.
Another great thing about this year’s Homecoming was the Nothing Bundt Cakes. By popular demand, they were brought back and students were over the moon excited to pick up their cake. Some lucky students even got to take home a second cake at the end of the night!
“I think the bundt cakes are a solid drawing. I know a lot of people wanted their cake, so it convinced them to come to the dance,” Publicity Chair of Student Council Annabelle Dierking said.
Even though the dance was moved to the fieldhouse, there were so many memories made that students will never forget. We hope everyone had a great Homecoming!
