As Homecoming comes to an end, it can be a bittersweet time for seniors. Attending their last Homecoming dance and experiencing the final spirit week in high school, emotions are at an all-time high and feelings of nostalgia are hitting hard. Seniors ended their final spirit week on a high note winning first place overall for spirit week with a total of 2,170 points.
Out of 62 seniors polled from a recent LHS survey, 46% said their favorite dress up day from all four years is Class Color Day. This makes sense because it is one of the only spirit days that continuously happens each year and unites each grade in a way that no other day does. This day is also something various students said would be the thing they missed most about Homecoming week due to the Homecoming games. The Homecoming Games occur each Class Color Day the Thursday before Homecoming in an assembly where grades go head to head for spirit points, furthering school spirit to the max.
“[I will] miss the school feeling like a community and [enjoy] everyone and their energy during the week,” senior Keira Mayer said.
This is a very relatable feeling for the majority of seniors. Looking back on our high school experience, there are many memories and seeing how we have all grown up is very emotional and that sense of community will be something we hold on to wherever we go.
“I will miss the atmosphere because it is always the best week of the year and everyone always goes all out,” said Senior Molly Biscan.
Stepping into the fall, seniors are planning and preparing for life after high school but it hasn’t stopped everyone from enjoying their final Homecoming. Homecoming week undeniably has a different energy than any other week of the year, the feeling is irreplaceable, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Despite the nostalgic end to Homecoming week, seniors have much to look forward to in the school year, including Senior night, Prom and eventually graduation.
