On Sept. 27, the Lemont varsity football team defeated Thornton Fractional North High School 28-13 in the annual Homecoming game.
Lemont went into the Homecoming game coming off of a two game win streak against Tinley Park High School and Thornton Fractional South High School.
Junior Jackson Dybcio led the game scoring two touchdowns along with junior Aiden Rudman who led the game rushing yards with 115.
Senior Cole Johnson had a huge game, as well, with one touchdown, four receptions, 134 yards and had an average of 33.5 yards.
Lemont’s defense also stepped up and only allowed undefeated TF North 13 points.
Out of the four games, TF North had an average of 29.25 points scored per game, and an average of seven points scored against.
Fans, parents, students and alumni were all able to enjoy the game with the new LED scoreboard, which displayed many effects on the screen.The Lemont graduating class of 1974 and 1984 came and got to witness a one of its kind LED scoreboard.
The overall stadium atmosphere was astonishing. The student section was loud from start to finish, cheering on Lemont after every play.
At halftime the varsity cheer and dance teams performed their routines, and then the marching band took the field and performed their 2024 field show “Deep Freeze.” The halftime show impressed many as the marching band got a huge standing ovation after the band’s performance.
“It was great to perform in front of the fans at home,” senior band member Nick Splitt said.
At the end of the game, Lemont has a dominating win over TF North leaving fans satisfied and entertained, giving Lemont football something to look forward to going on next week against Bremen High School.
