On Sunday, Oct. 13 the Chicago Bears had an impressive 35–16 victory overseas against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
On Sunday, Bears tight end Cole Kmet took home the award for the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, after Bears long snapper Scott Daly was injured after covering a punt in the first quarter. However, Kmet did not disappoint after his two touchdowns; Kmet was on the field the play after as a long snapper. Kmet is one of three Bears players to win NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, who were cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and punter Tory Taylor.
Bears head coach Matt Ebuflus was asked about Kmet’s performance on Sunday in a postgame interview with Layer Mayer. “It’s an important part of scoring points and getting the punts off. There was definitely a lot of talk [on the sideline] … He was good there. My hat’s off to him,” Ebuflus said.
Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams had another solid performance, throwing for 226 yards, 4 TDs, 1 interception and a 60% completion rate. The Bears defense also had a day, forcing two takeaways on Sunday.
The first takeaway was when Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards forced a fumble, which was recovered by Bears defensive back Elijah Hicks.
The second takeaway was a late-game interception by Bears defensive back Josh Blackwell.
Going into week 7, the Bears will have their bye week. During this week the Bears will prepare for their matchup in week 8 against the Washington Commanders at FedEx Field, kickoff at 3:25 p.m. The Commanders are led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
