The overall winning piece of the art show, “Just Keep Swimming,” created by junior Natalie Hamersly, stole the show with its gigantic size and beautiful coloring. It took weeks of dedication and hard work, but it all paid off once she saw the final product. (Julia Macari)“Almost” is an oil painting by junior Kate Malone as a part of her AP Art and Design portfolio. It got an honorable mention in the show for its incredibly crisp edges and extravagant coloring that set it aside from other pieces. (Julia Macari)This beautiful dress named “Midnight Gala” was created entirely out of LHS Tom-Tom newspapers! The creators freshmen Cali Satori, Juliet Rinkus and Emilia Swierk received an honorable mention in the art show for the piece. They used unique folding techniques setting the piece aside from the other dresses submitted. (Julia Macari)“Two Flamingos” by senior Lauren Ascolani received first place in the drawings category for the insane amount of attention to detail and for creating a consistent pattern that is easy to follow along the piece. (Julia Macari)Junior Delia Farrell won the award for best painting with the stunning piece “Nap Queen SN.” Farrell had been pursuing art from a very young age and it pays off in all of her pieces. This painting was selected for it’s terrific layering and blending, making it stand-out in the art show. (Julia Macari)Senior Violet Marusarz created a very unique bead ring designed in new class, Introduction to Jewelry Making, and it received first place for it’s beautiful stylistic choices and blending of colors. (Julia Macari)“What a Strange Realm” by junior Allie Fritsch stands out for its fanciful nature. The artist was able to uniquely approach something as simple as a jar, and turn it into an eye-opening art piece, receiving first place in the ceramic category. (Julia Macari)“Church Point” by senior Carter Eigel was the winning photograph presented at the show for it’s contrasting background and shadows. The piece was extremely unique at the show as nothing else had this color scheme or angle. (Julia Macari)

Going into her senior year, Julia is ready to make every moment count. This being her third year in Journalism (and first time taking on the position of Co-Editor-In-Chief), she is so excited to get back to writing and having fun with her classmates. Outside of Journalism, Julia is heavily involved in Lemont’s Drama Club and theatrical productions. If she’s not cranking out a story, chances are she’s practicing in the Performing Arts Center. This year, she also holds many titles throughout the school as the President of the Thespian Society, Vice President of the National Honors Society, Vice President of Drama Club and Publicity Chair of Rho Kappa. Despite having a lot on her plate, Julia still wants to spend a lot of time with her friends and make long lasting memories during her final year at LHS. As for her time after high school, she plans on pursuing musical theater at any college that lets her in.
