Lemont High School’s theater program put on a two act play called “Live Theater Unplugged” at 7 p.m. from Feb. 6 through 8. The show was under the direction of Brenda Perez de Dejada.
“Live Theater Unplugged” showcased the behind the scenes of theater and the reality of what occurs before a show hits the stage.
Act one was called “Bad Auditions by Bad Actors” which exposes the truth behind what goes on throughout the audition process. The first act was structured as a black box show, which means the audience was on stage in close vicinity to the actors. Black box theaters are used to create audience interaction.
“It was fun because the audience got to sit on stage instead of being in the audience, so they got a different perspective,” junior Annabelle Dierking said.
Act two was called “The Rehearsal.” This act told a different story from act one while remaining along the lines of the truth of live theater. It focused more on the process of rehearsing and putting on a show.
“It was so unique because people who normally don’t see the behind the scenes of theater got a little excerpt of what theater is like,” senior Shea Holt said.
Overall the show ran smoothly. It was a big hit with the audience as they were filled with laughter.
The cast performed a total of three astounding shows and had a lot of fun while doing so. We look forward to seeing the theater program put on the upcoming spring musical, “Annie.”
