Lollapalooza has been one of the biggest annual Chicago festivals since 2005, and this year will be no exception. From July 31 through Aug. 3, there will be many big name headliners at Grant Park: Sabrina Carpenter, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, Luke Combs, Olivia Rodrigo, Korn, Rüfüs Du Sol and Twice. Fans are not only thrilled for the headliners, but they are also ecstatic for other acts performed by artists like Gracie Abrams and Doechii.
Due to the tremendous amount of excitement, tickets for Lollapalooza four-day tickets sold out in under an hour. Additionally, the one-day tickets for Sunday sold out within two hours. Now, resellers are already listing the tickets from $300 to $3,000.
The nature of this festival is somewhat hectic, with so many performers and people attending, so attendees have already started making their plans for this summer.
“I want to be at the barricade for Sabrina Carpenter so I’m going to camp outside, run to her venue and guarantee my spot,” junior Nadia Wodziak said.
However, there is some drama surrounding Tyler, The Creator’s position as a headliner after he cancelled being a headliner during last year’s festival. Many fans were hesitant to buy tickets solely for his performance after the letdown they experienced last year.
On Twitter, the artist wrote a brief message addressing the issues, and then gave little to no further explanation.
“[I] made a commitment that [I] can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were. [That] is not sexy at all,” Tyler, The Creator said. “Please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person.”
However, even if a headliner cancels this year, the lineup has many amazing artists that fans are guaranteed to enjoy. There is every type of music genre at the festival this year and many popular acts that will be entertaining.
Whether you’re a rap, pop or country fan, there is definitely something for you at Lollapalooza this summer. Be sure to check out all the information at lollapalooza.com!
