With Lemont High School’s referendum passing, plans for the school renovations began formulating and being enacted.
The Classroom Physical Environment Committee (CPEC), which is led by John Coneset, Erin Horan and Angela Duensing, is overseeing the process of renovations.
When the CPEC began surveying students, faculty and community members, “science classrooms came back across the board as the number one priority,” for renovation, Duensing shared.
The CPEC is pleased with their choice of DLA Architects as, “they’re really good about being financially responsible while out doing [their previous projects],” Duensing said.
The primary goal of these renovations is to create a productive environment using, “movable furniture that will help students learn and help teachers teach better,” Horan said.
A major benefit of the renovations will be, “being able to be flexible, especially in a science class, being able to go from one thing to another and not having to move students to be part of the room, now the room can benefit the students,” Horan said.
The CPEC communicated that they are always open to suggestions from students and faculty in regards to the next phases.
