Over a decade since the release of “Final Destination 5,” Death is back in “Final Destination: Bloodlines.” Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, the film reveals a new twist on the “Final Destination” series. The film follows college student Stefani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) and her family as they try to evade Death’s plan to claim them all.
In the trailer, it’s revealed that Stefani’s grandmother Iris (Gabrielle Rose) experienced the familiar death premonitions decades ago, which allowed her to save multiple lives. However, since Iris was supposed to die in the freak accident, Death is now stalking her family, as they should have never existed.
Horror legend Tony Todd will be reprising his role as William Bludworth, making “Final Destination: Bloodlines” his last big screen appearance. The late actor’s role as Bludworth has been a pivotal role in the franchise, supplying main characters with information about Death’s design. His character has been theorized to be a representative of Death or has made a deal with it, and he has become one of the most popular characters in the franchise. “Final Destination: Bloodlines” is expected to explore Bludworth’s past and Death’s ever-changing rules.
The film’s trailer was released on March 25 and collected over 170 million views worldwide within the first 24 hours, making “Final Destination: Bloodlines” the second most watched horror film trailer, behind “It.” The trailer shows multiple possible death scenes to look out for, such as getting run over by lawn mowers and getting stuck in revolving doors. In addition to the trailer, a teaser was previously released on February 3, showing a complete death scene in a tattoo shop.
“Final Destination: Bloodlines” is set to be released in the United States on May 16 and will be available on both IMAX and standard formats.
