With new restaurants popping up in downtown Lemont, locals have been buzzing with one big question: how do they taste? The arrival of Asian-fusion restaurant Wok’d adds a fresh splash of flavor to Lemont’s food scene, especially anyone craving bold Asian-inspired dishes.
Wok’d officially opened its doors this August at 116 Stephen Street, bringing something new to the table. Behind the concept is Angela Terrafino, who has spent 24 years in the restaurant industry. Her vision? To create an inclusive menu where people with dietary restrictions don’t have to feel limited. In fact, about 98% of the menu is gluten-free, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available.
“We want everyone to feel welcome,” Terrafino said. “It’s about making food that’s fun, flavorful and safe for as many people as possible.”
Wok’d leans into their creative side with menu categories like “Wok it Our Way” for wok-made dishes and “Tossed by a Ninja” for stir-frys.
Taste Test
We asked the staff about the most-ordered items and gave them a try ourselves.
Nutty Noods ($11) – Gluten-free & Vegan ⭐️ 10/10
This dish was the clear favorite. The nutty sauce hit the perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, while shredded carrots added just the right crunch. The gluten-free noodles were so good you’d never guess they weren’t the regular kind.
“Wok It Our Way” Teriyaki ($14.22, chicken +$2) – Gluten-free & Vegan options ⭐️ 9.5/10
Teriyaki is a classic, and Wok’d does it justice. The chicken was tender and juicy, practically melting in your mouth. The noodles could have been warmer, but overall, it’s a solid pick for anyone who wants a comfort dish with a healthier twist.
S’more Sushi ($6) ⭐️ 9/10
A dessert with personality! This sweet roll is like a crunchy rice crispy, with a hint of campfire nostalgia. Filled with marshmallow in the center – it’s a little firm – but still a fun and unique way to wrap up the meal.
What makes Wok’d stand out isn’t just the menu, it’s the atmosphere. Terrafino chose Lemont for its small-town feel and community spirit, and she hopes Wok’d can become part of that spirit. Future collaborations with local businesses, like coffee shops and fitness studios, are already in the works.
If you’re looking for a place that’s allergen-friendly without sacrificing flavor, Wok’d is a must-try. Between clever menu names, bold flavors and dishes that work for almost every diet, this new downtown spot brings something exciting to Lemont. Check out the full menu at wok-d.com
