Following the astounding success of her last album, “Short n’ Sweet,” Sabrina Carpenter set out to create a whole new vibe with her newest album, “Man’s Best Friend.” With 12 songs and just 38 minutes, she was able to take five out of the top 10 spots in the Top 100 songs globally.
Currently, the most popular song on the album is “Tears,” followed by “Manchild” and “My Man in Willpower.” With fans obsessing over each and every lyric.
While fans are overjoyed by this new music, some say there aren’t enough “sad” songs. Only one song sticks out as particularly “sad,” that being “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry.” Carpenter’s last album had four times the amount of downbeat songs, leaving some fans a little disappointed.
“I was just hoping for another song to hit the way ‘Dumb & Poetic’ did,” senior Morgan Sadelski said.
However, despite the overall upbeat vibe of the album, it handles a lot of emotional experiences like breakups, fresh starts, self-acceptance and rejection. Every song gives fans an opportunity to connect with Carpenter in different ways.
Still, the internet has found a way to highlight only the sexual parts of her album and try to shame her for her latest works. However, Carpenter shot back with a response.
“Female artists have been shamed forever,” Carpenter said. “In the noughties it was Rihanna, in the nineties it was Britney Spears, in the eighties it was Madonna—and now it’s me.”
Despite some backlash, the album is still doing great on the billboard charts and fans are thrilled to see what Carpenter does next.
