On Sept. 25, junior and senior girls competed in the annual flag football game to secure Homecoming spirit points for their class. Despite the shocking score of 0-42 last year, the seniors were able to redeem themselves securing a victory of 14-12.
Both teams put up a fight, but there was one moment where the seniors were able to secure their win over the juniors. Junior Samra Mujcinovic attempted to punt the ball across the field, however, running back Morgan Sadelski grabbed the ball and ran it all the way from the 50 yard line to the end zone, scoring the seniors six points.
“I just grabbed the ball and ran,” Sadelski said.
While the seniors were scared after last year’s setback, they felt the need to redeem themselves and bring honor to the Class of 2026.

“Our key to victory is redemption,” senior Nadia Wodizak said.
However, while this game is supposed to encourage unity and team work, it did lead to further animosity between the senior and junior girls.
“The juniors really just keep running their mouths,” senior Mikalya Chidez said.
Additionally, there was endless bickering between both teams, as well as a few unruly tackles on both sides, leading to the ejection of senior Ava Demaio. Thankfully no one got hurt, and players were able to still have a fun time despite the tension between the girls.
While there was only one game, both teams started practicing three weeks in advance to ensure their best performance. It definitely paid off on the field for both teams with some incredible play on both ends.

Now that spirit week is over, the girls all feel very accomplished on both teams for putting up a good game and are excited to see how next year’s game plays out.
