Catlin Clark is out for the WNBA playoffs due to a groin injury. The first playoff game for the Indiana Fever was on Sept 14th. With Clark out for the season, Indiana Fever lost 68-80 against Atlanta Dream.
“I spent hours in the gym every day with the singular goal of getting back out there, disappointed isn’t a big enough word to describe how I am feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back through all the uncertainty.” said Clark.
Clark faced soft tissue injuries throughout the off season putting her out in early June, but was able to make a memorable but short comeback. During the Connecticut Sun game, Clark made a bounce pass to teammate Kelsy Mitchele in the last minute of the game and felt a groin pain.
This pain resulted in a serious injury putting her on the bench for the rest of the playoffs and led to the need for rehab. Indiana Fever is at a huge loss and needs to start picking up the slack from their first playoff loss.
In a recent interview with CBS news Clark spoke about her struggle with the injury.
“This is the first time I haven’t felt like a young body that can run around and sprint every day and just continue to do that,” said Clark.
Clark hasn’t been out on injury since high school and it is taking a toll on her mental health. From being the first draft in the 2024 WNBA draft, not being able to play these important games is disheartening for Clark.
However, this injury has not stopped Clark from supporting her teamates. Clark has been seen expressing her opinions and plays on the sidelines to help Indiana Fever make it to victory.
We hope to see her comeback next season better and healthier than ever.
