With some time passing since the first day of the 25-2026 school year, the freshmen at Lemont High School have had some time to adjust from their old middle school life. Whether it be sports or extracurriculars, there are many things for freshmen to be excited about.
The transition to high school can be difficult as many things are different compared to middle school, especially the difficulty in classes. Now that more advanced classes like AP and honors courses are available to freshmen, it can be challenging for them to get a handle on the material, especially at the beginning of a new school year.
It’s also important to consider that the amount of studying and work done in middle school might not cut it anymore. The different work load in high school can take some adjusting to, which is what freshman Alex Rychtarcyzk agrees with.
“[The classes] are very challenging and [teachers] give you a lot of homework,” Rychtarczyk said.
While academics are extremely important to your high school career, there are also many clubs and sports that students can join at LHS. Clubs and sports are a great way to get involved with the community, discover what your interests are and meet new people.
“I think there’s a lot [of clubs] and you’ll probably find something you like,” freshman Ryan Leone said.
While there can be some challenges during freshman year, there’s also many opportunities to get involved with LHS and the community. As the school year carries on, time can only tell what the Class of 2029 can accomplish.
