Continuing onward into the third day of this year’s homecoming spirit week was Generation Day. Students were divided up by grades into the following categories: freshmen as babies, sophomores as little kids, juniors as working adults and seniors as senior citizens.
The morning kicked off in the field house with some creative skits. “Lullabies” by the seniors, “Revived” by the juniors, and “Sofia the First” by the sophomores are a few of the top performances for the day.
Next we asked students from various grades their opinion on Generation Day.
“I think it’s pretty cool that each class has a different thing to dress up [as]. But also it’s kinda hard to dress up, especially when you’re a sophomore being a toddler is really hard,” sophomore Jacqeline Kennedy said.
Generation Day definitely generated a lot of participants. Many juniors dressed up as nurses, doctors and construction workers. However, there were a few unique outfits: one junior dressed up as a weatherman and a few people wore suits and business outfits.
The freshmen took Generation Day by storm by dressing up as babies. Some students went the extra mile and wore onesies, had pacifiers around their necks and even brought baby bottles to drink their water out of. Other freshmen perceived the day merely as a pajama day and came to school in PJ pants.
“Generation Day was really fun because I got to dress up and match with my best friend,” freshman Natalia Capps said.
As this being freshman’s first spirit week, Generation Day made a good impression on the Class of 2029.
“It was really comfy being in a onesie,” Capps said.
Wednesday spirit point totals ended with seniors in first with 701 points, juniors in second with 613 points, freshmen in third with 550 points and sophomores in fourth with 480 points.
The seniors went all out in the senior citizen department. Most senior girls wore grey wigs with rollers and pins, long pajamas, slippers and held canes. Boys wore overalls, glasses and caps. Lots of seniors also wore pajamas and slippers.
Dressing up as grandmas and grandpas, the seniors had lots of good things to say.
“This day is really unique, I love how all the grades are assigned something totally different. Dressing up as a grandma is so fun,” senior Colleen Arundel said.
Everyone dressed up in their own unique way, yet the seniors looked similar.
“It’s silly seeing everyone go all out for these spirit days, looking around in my classes and seeing grey wigs and pajamas is so fun. I love how our high school does this,” senior Nora Miller said.
Overall Generation Day was a success, with many people displaying their creative imagination. This spirit day will definitely be one to remember.
