The Class of 2026 last Homecoming of their high school career. From getting last place their sophomore year at the end of Homecoming to their sweeping first place win their senior year.
Senior year is always full of “last firsts.” Last first day of school, last first football game and now their last Homecoming.
For their last Homecoming week, the seniors had a great spirit week. Starting off strong during 70’s/Disco Day, the seniors ended Monday off with 195 points. From there, they continued on an upward trend, winning the Homecoming games with a total of 165, as well as raising $879 for Lemont v. Hunger and $115 for the Gift Card drive. The seniors also won first place in the blanket flip, tug-of-war, arm wrestling and dodge-ball. This brought their points all the way to Friday, ending with a whopping 1,908 points and winning Homecoming week.
The senior girls on Thursday night also won the annual flag football game. Winning the game 14-12 to the junior girls, the seniors had a close call but ended with a reigning win.
Looking back on their four years of high school, the Class of 2026 has had an intricate relationship with spirit week. Their freshmen and sophomore spirit weeks ended in dead last, scoring the least point by far. However, their junior year they turned it around and ended up in second place closely following the seniors. Then, ultimately, their senior year they won with over 100 more points than the runner up junior class.
Over time, the Class of 2026 definitely found themselves with more school spirit and chose to really showcase it this year. Whether it was flag football, skits, tug of war or dressing up the senior class came to win.
While it will be hard to let go of the tradition of spirit week, the Class of 2026 is eternally grateful for all the great memories it has left them with and will carry their school spirit with them to graduation.
