Lemont High School’s Homecoming spirit week is always an electric atmosphere and fosters creativity. Throughout the week, I chose an outfit that stood out to me for each spirit day.
Monday’s theme was 70’s/Disco Day. Many students took different angles on this theme: some dressed very heavily disco, some leaned into the hippie aspect and some dressed in a traditional 70’s outfit. The best-dressed person I chose for this day was junior Julizabeth Martinez; her enthusiasm and attitude completely sold the clothing she presented. I enjoyed the dedication to her outfit and the care-free attitude accompanied by the absence of embarrassment. Martinez’s outfit was comical and enjoyable and even more impressive, her outfit communicated her own joy.
Tuesday’s theme was Wild West vs. West Coast. This day, I noticed more people dressed for the wild west. The best-dressed person I chose for this spirit day was senior Bella Locasio. Locasio went all out with her wild west inspired outfit and did not disappoint. Locasio’s meticulous crafting of this outfit was obvious to anyone who saw her. I admired her attention to detail from head to toe.
Wednesday’s theme was Generation Day which allowed members of different classes to dress up as follows: freshmen as babies, sophomores as little kids, juniors as working class adults and seniors as senior citizens. I think the most vague generation by far was working class adults which allowed the junior class the most creative liberty. The person who I think took this to the max was junior Jenna Gornick. Gornick’s outfit was the perfect representation of elevating an outfit through well-crafted details.
