Homecoming week at Lemont High School just came to an end and this year’s theme was “Rio Carnival.”
The spirit days for this year were: 70s/Disco Day, Wild West vs. West Coast, Generation Day, Class Color Day and Blue and Gold Day. Overall, the grade that dressed up the most was the freshmen. Additionally, many skits were performed in the field house and seniors won four out of five skits, with one being won by the juniors.
The overall totals for each grade’s spirit points were sophomores with 1465 spirit points, freshmen with 1657 spirit points, juniors with 1742 spirit points and seniors with 1908 spirit points.
The winners of Homecoming court were another exciting highlight of spirit week. The winners were freshmen Alex Cahill and Sarah Scott, sophomores Ryan Plahm and Sabrina Tavolino, juniors Zakarya Jaber and Jenna Gornick and seniors Mac McIntyre and Nora Miller.
The big finale of Homecoming week was the annual Homecoming game. Both junior varsity and varsity football teams beat T.F. South High school 55-0 and 56-6, respectively. The flag football game with junior and senior girls ended 14-12 with the seniors winning. The marching band, varsity dance team, varsity cheer team and golden cheer team did a great job performing.
“It was really fun performing with my friends,” sophomore Corinne Cosenza, a member of the band team, said.
Despite the overwhelming support of Homecoming week, a lot of people had mixed feelings about the dance.
“It was boring, but hanging out afterwards was fun,” freshman Stella Ford said.
The dance was held in the gym from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 27. Tickets were $35, with Kona Ice being included. It also featured Taco Madre, a DJ, photobooths and karaoke.
In total, Homecoming week this year was well received, even if some students thought that it could’ve been improved.
