The Lemont High School varsity football team has kicked off the 25-2026 season with a mixed outcome of scores. Initially starting with a 14-24 loss against Libertyville High School, the team slowly crawled back to come out on top with a staggering 49-7 victory against Bremen High School.
For the home pre-games, the community honored those who had served through the Hometown Heroes announcements and those fighting through cancer with the Cal’s Angels shoutouts.
Additionally, LHS students packed the bleachers, decked out in an array of colors. The stadium was blacked out for the opening game and dazzled with gold in support for the cancer foundation.
During the opening game of the season, Lemont scored the first touchdown against Libertyville, yet things quickly turned sour for the team as Libertyville promptly fought back and pumped the score in their favor.
Things looked quite different during a later game, however, as Lemont stood their ground and maintained a clean lead up until the final quarter, where Bremen managed to score a touchdown and bring their score up from zero.
Despite the vastly different outcomes of the games, performances from the crowd and during halftime kept the energy high for the duration of the game. For their first performance of the year, the dance team brought out young kids to perform alongside them in an act that set the stage for the rest of the night. The band also debuted its field show for the first time at one of the games.
Classic stand calls and energized routines by the cheer teams created a positive mood in the stadium, which helped to boost the morale of the team. This was especially evident against Bremen, with the team managing to have an incredibly strong lead, keeping them from scoring a single point up until the final quarter.
Overall, the team has the potential to stir the pot this season and continue to bring their best out onto the field.
