What went down during Homecoming Week

Compared to past homecomings, Homecoming 2016 sure was different. It was a week earlier, but that did not stop the students from having a lot of spirit.

The days of spirit week – in order – were College Day, Movie Day, Olympic Day, Class Color Day, and Blue and Gold Day. During this week, the field house was full of costumes and students getting points for their class. In the beginning of the week, the juniors were in first, the seniors in second, the sophomores in third, and – of course – the freshmen were in last place. As the week progressed, every class was in the same place as they were previously.

Then rolled around Class Color Day, when each grade competed against each other in various relays. Every class did well in each event, but it seemed as if the seniors and juniors were placing first.

Everyone was anxious to find out who placed first for that day. When it was announced that the juniors were still in first, there was a huge mass of green-wearing students cheering.

The final day of Spirit Week rolled around and every class did as many skits as possible to get last minute points. Tensions arose between the classes, particularly between the juniors and seniors, on Twitter.
At the end of the day, everyone gathered again to find out who finally won, all sitting anxiously at the edge of their seats to wait for the final scores. Mrs. Kupchek said, “And by 12 points… the seniors won!” Every single senior jumped and cheered while the juniors sat quietly. This earned the seniors bragging rights for winning 2016’s Homecoming Spirit Week.
