The dance team finished out their season placing 14th at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Competitive Dance Finals on Friday, Jan. 27 with the program’s personal best finish at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Dance has advanced to the state finals three times in the four years since IHSA has made it a sport. The team hopes to continue the tradition and further their rankings. They ended with an overall score of 86.94.
Junior Sam Wrobel said, “We are all a good group of dancers. Our goal was to just make it to state and we ended up doing better than we ever have before!”

The competition was held on Jan. 27 with the teams who advanced on from sectionals. Then, on Jan. 28, the top 10 teams competed for the number one spot.

Although the state competition is over for the team, the season continues on because dance is the only two-season sport other than cheerleading at LHS. They cover the halftime entertainment during basketball and football games. The team also performed their annual ‘Boy Girl Dance’ on Feb. 10.

They will also perform a showcase Feb. 16 in the PAC for $5. Come out to support the team and their partners for their last hurrah until next year!
