Spotlight on clubs: National Science Honor Society creates formula for success

The Science National Honor Society, sponsored by Mrs. Doornbos and Mrs. Horan, is the newest honor society added to the list of the school’s prestigious clubs for students who possess admirable qualities.

Mrs. Horan says she started the club because, “so many of our students are high achieving in science and I wanted the community and colleges to know the great things that our Lemont High School Science students are doing.” She noted that many students were excited about joining this year.

In order to become a member in the National Science Honor Society, potential candidates must be taking at least one science class and be involved in one or more science clubs.

Junior Claudia Jazowski is a current member of the society. She says she joined to “help students gain more enjoyment from science and related activities.” She hopes to continue her love of science by becoming an engineer in the future.

The club is looking forward to community outreach programs very soon. Mrs. Horan says “stay tuned!”
