Fans around the world were left shocked the past few months after the announcement that Lee Heeseung will officially be leaving ENHYPEN, popular K-Pop boyband. For many ENGENEs (fans of ENHYPEN), the news felt almost impossible to believe.
Since debuting with the group in 2020, from the hit survival show I-LAND, Heeseung has often been seen as one of ENHYPEN’s strongest all-around performers. From stable live vocals to powerful stage presence, fans frequently referred to him as the group’s “ace.” Whether it was emotional ballads or intense choreography, Heeseung consistently stood out while still supporting the members around him.
Shortly after the announcement on March 10, social media quickly filled with emotional reactions from fans. Clips of performances, old livestream moments and trainee-era videos spread across TikTok and X as fans reflected on his journey with the group. Many described feeling as though “a part of ENHYPEN is missing.”
Despite the sadness, fans have also focused on supporting both Heeseung and the remaining members moving forward. “We grew up with him,” Genevieve Peng said. “No matter what happens next, he’ll always be part of ENHYPEN’s story.”
Neither the company, HYBE, nor Heeseung has shared extensive details about what comes next, but fans continue to express gratitude for the years he spent with the group. Heeseung will continue his solo career under the stage name EVAN, leaving his name “Heeseung” with ENHYPEN and ENGENEs.
For many ENGENEs, this moment feels less like a goodbye and more like the end of an era.
