The 30th annual Midwest Music Fest will take place on Saturday, Feb. 27 at LHS. A variety of high school concert and symphonic bands will each perform throughout the day.

Midwest Fest marks the end of two months of hard work by LHS’s Concert and Symphonic Bands. Both bands have made significant progress since the beginning of the winter season.

The Symphonic Band will be performing “March from ‘1941’”, “San Antonio Dances”, and “Variations on a Korean Folk Song.” The Concert Band will be playing “Courtly Aires and Dances” and “River Kwai March.”

Senior Kevin Smollen, a member of Concert Band, feels that the band has definitely made improvements since the beginning of the winter cycle.

Both bands look forward to the annual competition. Sophomore Natalie Hartl says she’s very excited to play, and says “We’re all going to do well.”
