On Saturday, September 17, Girls’ Varsity Volleyball played in the 10th Annual Wheaton Classic Tournament against several local high schools. Played at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, the girls won one out of three matches in the tournament.

Their first match was against the Metea Valley High School team which closely beat Lemont in both games with the same final score of 26-24. The second match was against Walter Payton College Prep. They won the first game, 29-27, but lost the second by just two points with a final score of 25-23. Their third and final game was won by Lemont, 25-20. The final match, however, was won by Plainfield North after Lemont lost both games; the final score of the first was 25-20 and the second was 25-16, landing a win for Plainfield.

“The outcome may not always be what one would hope, but Z (Coach Zogata) always finds a way to keep the games fun and encourages us even in the hardest of times,” said senior Lauren Totura who is the middle hitter for the varsity team. Totura and the team will be playing next on Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24 at an invite from Richard East High School.
