Reviewing new box office thriller

Jenna Brixie, Staff Writer

New scary movie “Shut In” recently was released in theaters. The movie is rated PG-13 and is an hour and a half long. The preview said it would be a thriller and keep you on the edge of your seat in the preview.

The movie preview alone made it hard to tell what the movie was exactly about. I was expecting it to just be about a haunted house out in the snowy wilderness, but it was totally different than that.

The movie started off by making you think the killer was going to be someone else, then it ended up completely different. The movie had a holiday-ish, wintery mood from the setting taking place in the wilderness during a snowstorm. The snow outside gave a sense of loneliness and isolation, which played into the most suspenseful moments of the movie.

I liked how they placed the movie in a snowy, wintery environment because it made the movie not feel like fall, like how most scary movies do that come out around the Halloween time. It made the film feel like it was a good thriller to watch around the holiday season.

I thought the actors in the movie were great, especially Charlie Heaton who was one of the main characters in the film.

He acts in “Stranger Things,” which is on Netflix, and it was interesting to see him take on a totally different role. He was the perfect choice for his character; they made him look very psychopathic and disturbing.

Overall, even though the movie felt pretty short, it was an interesting and eye-catching movie that I didn’t get bored watching. The plot twist in the movie totally surprised and confused me at the same time.

If you like thriller movies full of anticipation, “Shut In” is definitely a movie to see.
