Over the past 18 years, Coach Chris Zogata has gained many experiences which led the varsity volleyball team to many wins this year. The team recently earned a spot in the playoffs on October 16th, when they defeated Oak Lawn in both sets. The team then proceeded to defeat Metea Valley on the 22nd, winning both sets again where they then competed against Naperville North and met their demise.

Despite this loss, Lemont still managed to take 2nd in the entire conference losing only to Richards who had one more win than them. Prior to the playoffs, Coach Zogata noted, “I think the girls might be a little bit nervous but we are confident” when asked about how the girls felt about entering the playoffs this year.

Coach Zogata also commented on how the volleyball team “has won playoff games in past years” giving them the extra boost of confidence they needed when they headed into the playoffs last week.

This year the team has had a great track record of 12 wins and 1 loss putting them in second place out of all 14 teams within the conference this year.

Zogata also said, “I think that on any given night anyone can win. If we play well we can go as far as we can.” With this mindset, the girls made the school and their families very proud when they were handed the 2nd place plaque that will now be featured just outside the gymnasium.
