The NFL Playoffs end with the Chiefs and 49ers heading to Superbowl 54

The NFL season had a lot of up-and-coming players and teams that got to the playoffs, but there were some teams that didn’t have the best season that had high expectations coming into the season.

The NFC division leaders were the San Francisco 49ers and the Greenbay Packers. The other division leaders who got home field advantage were the New Orleans Saints, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Lastly, the wildcard spots went to the Seattle Seahawks, and the Minnesota Vikings.

The AFC leaders were the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, the New England Patriots, and the Houston Texans. The AFC wild card spots went to the Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills. 

The NFL wildcard round hosted four games and started on Saturday, Jan. 4 with the Buffalo Bills playing the Houston Texans. The wildcard round ended on Sunday, Jan. 5 with the Seattle Seahawks playing the Philadelphia Eagles.

The first NFC wild card match-up was the Minnesota Vikings against the New Orleans Saints. The Vikings came out on top in overtime 26-20 from a big touchdown catch by tight end Kyle Rudolph to seal the win. 

The other NFC match-up was the Seattle Seahawks against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Seahawks won 17-9 after a big game from quarterback Russell Wilson, and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf. 

The AFC matchups were the Tennessee Titans playing the New England Patriots. The Titans won 20-13 after a huge game from running back Derrick Henry who had 182 yards off 34 carries. 

The last wildcard match-up was the Buffalo Bills against the Houston Texans. The Texans won 22-19 in overtime after a kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn hit the game winning field goal from 28 yards out.

The NFL divisional round hosted 4 games and it started on Saturday, Jan. 11 with the Minnesota Vikings against the San Francisco 49ers, and ended with the Seattle Seahawks against the Greenbay Packers on Sunday, Jan. 12.

The NFC divisional round hosted the Minnesota Vikings against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers won 27-10 after a big defensive game from rookie right end Nick Bosa who had two big sacks. Running back Telvin Coleman also had a good game with 105 yards and two touchdowns.

The other NFC division round hosted the Seattle Seahawks against the Greenbay Packers. The Greenbay Packers won the game 28-23, as the game progressed Green Bay quarterback Arron Rodgers threw a 41 yard touchdown to receiver Devante Adams. Adams had a strong statistical game with eight Rec, 160 yards and two touchdowns. Left outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith had a big defensive game with two sacks and two tackles.

The AFC divisional round consisted of the Titans against the Ravens, and the Texans playing the Chiefs. 

The Tennessee Titans played the Baltimore Ravens. The Titans won in a big upset 28-12 after another huge game from running back Derrick Henry who had 195 yards.

The Other AFC Division Round match-up was the Texans against the Chiefs. The Texans had a quick 14 points in three minutes to give them a big lead. The Chiefs dominated the rest of the game scoring 41 unanswered points. Tight end Travis Kelce had 10 Rec, for 134 yards and three Touchdowns. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had 321 passing yards, and 5 passing touchdowns. 

The NFL conference championship provided two games the Tennessee Titans playing the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Greenbay Packers playing the San Francisco 49ers.

The Titans, and Chiefs played the first game of the day, and the Titans took an early first quarter lead going up 10-0 but the Chiefs rallied back to win the game 35-24. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had 294 yards and three touchdowns. 

Sophomore Michael Mui had a few words on the playoffs, “I wanted the Titans to win but unfortunately they lost to the Chiefs. Overall I think the playoffs have been very exciting to watch, The Chiefs have been very fun to watch” said Mui.

The NFC match-up hosted the Greenbay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers took an early lead and never let up, they ended up winning 37-20 running back Raheem Mostert had 220 yards with four touchdowns.

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will play each other in Miami on February 2 for the Superbowl.
