With early action for college applications due just around the corner, the counselors are here to help students through the process of applying to college. On October 1, the FAFSA financial aid form opens up for families to complete. The counselors are holding events such as FAFSA completion night on October 20 and College & Financial Aid Awareness Night on October 12.

“It is important for seniors to attend the events to gain more valuable information about college, learn how to pay for college, and is a good starting point for students who have not yet started applications.” says Counselor Stephanie Bushnell.

These times are stressful for seniors as they plan for their future. A lot is on the line when it comes to picking a career. To this stress Bushnell states “It is totally fine, many students go undecided into college and you have plenty of time to think about your options.”

When thinking about college there are a lot of points to consider. How many students attend the school? Do you want to play a sport in college? How can I get the best deal financially?

Anytime you need help with college planning or application questions visit your counselor. “You can schedule a meeting with your counselor anytime through email or sign up on the sheet by the secretary in the office,” said Bushnell.

No matter where you go, remember that students from LHS are ready and prepared for college. This next chapter in many students’ lives should be exciting, not stressful and this is a message the counselors want students to know.
